The medieval Chartres Cathedral take one’s breath away. The massive stones are magnificent and skillfully cut!
So, “Where did they come from?"  The ancient quarry of Berchères les Pierres, about 8 miles from Chartres.

At 12:30 pm, our band of pilgrims will leave from Maison St. Yves and shuttle to the quarry. We will meander along the edge of the fields of LaBeauce and descend into the wooded quarry bed through terrain that requires sure-footedness.

Leaving the quarry, we will walk along village streets, country roads, lanes of fast traffic, the banks of the Eure River and into Chartres. As a pilgrim ritual, we’ll circumabulate the cathedral and return to Maison St. Yves about 6 pm.

Bring a bottle of water, trail snacks, sturdy (tennis) shoes, and be prepared to adventure and walk for three hours.
