Letter from Pere Francois Legaux
(letter from Pere Legaux sent 5 years ago on the occasion of Lauren's 65th birthday)
Ma chere Lauren, et vous tous, membres de Veriditas,
I would like to express to Lauren and to everyone who works with her in this magnificent undertaking that is Veriditas, my feelings of profound gratitude and my most fraternal congratulations in this celebration.
Lauren understands the most profound ties uniting (human)kind and the sacred. By this new and yet ancient path, she has developed bridges among men, women, religions and the entire spiritual world. The church can only rejoice in this ministry that she has fulfilled with such depth, humanity and faith. May God give her grace for all that her immense work has been able to bring to our churches and to a constructive ecumenism. So thanks to my dear Lauren for having spent so much of her time and her energy and to have so greatly enriched the priestly ministry.
I also wish to send my fondest memories to all I have met at Chartres. The presence of Veriditas in our cathedral has been an asset for the sacred role that such an edifice should fulfill toward humanity. Moments I have spent with all of you have been marvelous and of great mystical depth. You have helped the Catholic clergy of Chartres to become more open to the spiritual realities of all our Christian brothers and sisters, whatever church they belong to, and to understand that the diversity of our Christian communities, far from being a sign of division, is a sowing of unity.
I ask God to bless you and to bless the work undertaken and to accompany it with His holy spirit.
Your brother in Christ, Chanoine Francois Legaux Rector emeritus of Chartres Cathedral
