The Gift of the Labyrinth in Challenging Times with Veriditas Accredited Presenter, Patricia Newton

  • 05 Oct 2024
  • 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 147 NW 19th Ave Portland, OR 97209

We are living in times that challenge our values, sense of safety, and our response to conflict and change. It can be a challenge to stay connected to ourselves and keep our hearts open when we are on unsure ground. Throughout time the labyrinth has emerged when hearts and minds were searching for a way through change. The beautiful Chartres Labyrinth was built in 1200 AD at a tumultuous time in the Middle Ages and through its sacred design has the ability to quiet the mind and provide a wider and deeper perspective.

This experiential workshop will explore walking the labyrinth to find the gifts of restoration, nurturance, and insight that can inform our responses to our challenges. We will walk the beautiful Trinity Episcopal Cathedral inlaid wood medieval labyrinth that is an exact replica of the famous Chartres Cathedral Labyrinth in France. Meditation, poetry, images and community sharing will help us create a safe and sacred space for our personal exploration. A light lunch will be included. The fee is a sliding scale of $50-$75.

Everyone is welcome and there is no prior labyrinth experience necessary as the history and how to walk the labyrinth will be explained to allow everyone to be comfortable.

Patricia Newton is an Advanced Veriditas Labyrinth Facilitator and has created labyrinth workshops for over five years at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. She has a deep love of the labyrinth and especially the Chartres Labyrinth which she has been lucky to walk several times. This workshop was inspired by insights received during those special walks at Chartres Cathedral with Veriditas.
