Join Veriditas founder the Reverend Dr. Lauren Artress in conversation with Jan Richardson, author, artist, and ordained minister to learn more about “Transforming Sorrow through Love” on Monday, March 27 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM PDT.

Many will be familiar with Jan’s art and writing through her books, In Wisdom’s Path or will have read or used passages from Circle of Grace: A Book of Blessings for the Seasons to set the tone for labyrinth events.

In this webinar she will discuss how deeply intertwined love and grief can be which she experienced after the sudden death of her husband the singer/songwriter Garrison Doles in 2013.  Her need to remake her life led to an exploration of grief as a metaphoric labyrinth, and her belief that love is deeper than grief and ultimately will prevail.

In this webinar you will learn about her insights as well as the support her writing and art were to her transformation process.  Whether you are new to the labyrinth or a facilitator looking for a theme for your next event, you will be inspired by the concepts in this month’s webinar.

VIA members will automatically be sent the link for the additional question/answer period that follows the program.

About the Speaker:

Jan Richardson is an artist, writer, and ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. She serves as director of The Wellspring Studio, LLC, and has traveled widely as a retreat leader and conference speaker. With work described by the Chicago Tribune as “breathtaking,” she has attracted an international audience drawn to the spaces of welcome, imagination, and solace that she creates in both word and image. Jan’s books include The Cure for Sorrow, Night Visions, In the Sanctuary of Women, and the recently released Sparrow: A Book of Life and Death and Life.

A native Floridian several generations over, Jan grew up in a small community near the university town of Gainesville. The rural landscape, community traditions, and lifelong relationships fostered a rich sense of place, imagination, and ritual that continue to shape Jan's life and infuse her work.

Jan's distinctive artwork, writing, and more can be found at her blogs and websites, www.Janrichardson.com, and www.paintedprayerbook.com.

The Reverend Dr. Lauren Artress is the grandmother of the modern day Labyrinth movement and is the founder of Veriditas. In May of 2006, Lauren’s rediscovery of the labyrinth was honored by Grace Cathedral and she was designated Honorary Canon, a lifetime title.

She is the author of Walking a Sacred Path: Rediscovering the Labyrinth as a Spiritual Tool, The Sand Labyrinth Kit, and The Sacred Path Companion: A Guide to Walking the Labyrinth to Heal and Transform.  Her latest book, The Path of the Holy Fool: How the Labyrinth Ignites Our Visionary Powers was released in the fall of 2021.
