Consider stepping out of the hustle of daily life into a contemplative pilgrimage retreat experience in order to deeply listen to that which is calling.

The Inward Journey Retreat at Chartres includes spiritual exploration, community interaction, contemplation, dialogue, reflection, and discovery of the historical roots and brilliant imagination that created this magnificent Cathedral. Led by noted author, musician, coach and minister, Rev. Cynthia James, this pilgrimage is open to those seeking spiritual nourishment and reconnection with your journey of faith.

The week includes an insightful session with noted author and world-renowned Labyrinth expert The Reverend Dr. Lauren Artress, as well as several private educational group tours of this historic Cathedral. Plenty of free time is built in for you to explore the cobblestoned streets and medieval architecture of this quaint French town, wander in solitude among the beauty of Chartres’ beautiful gardens, visit with local shopkeepers and restaurateurs, connect in meaningful dialogue with other retreat participants, or simply rest in the serenity of the parks along the riverbank.

The Inward Journey Retreat is capped by an extraordinary intimate evening labyrinth walk. During this prayerful and reflective experience we’ll walk the medieval Chartres labyrinth, illuminated by thousands of candles beneath the glow of 13th century stained glass windows and enveloped by live sacred music. It’s a truly unforgettable experience—one you won’t want to miss!

Walking a Sacred Path is a transformational program that is offered in two cycles. Each cycle features a different faculty person. Both cycles include one private, after hours labyrinth walk and one public walk in Chartres Cathedral. Tuition includes all program costs: morning seminars, a small group discussion, an opening reception, a closing dinner, a tour of the crypt, a tour of the cathedral and leisure hours spent in the enchanting Medieval village that surrounds the magnificent Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres.

Pilgrimage:

"The art of movement, the poetry of motion, the music of personal experience, of the sacred in those places it has been known to shine forth. If we are not astounded by these possibilities, we can never plumb the depths of our own souls or the soul of the world.

The force behind myths fairytales, parables and soulful travel stories reveals the myriad ways the sacred breaks through the resistance and shines forth into our world. Pilgrimage holds out the promise of personal contact with that sacred force.

What is sacred is what is worthy of our reverence, what evokes awe and wonder in the human heart, and what, when contemplated, transforms us utterly."

-- Phil Cousineau, The Art Of Pilgrimage: The Seeker's Guide To Making Travel Sacred
