Walking a Sacred Path

Spring 2010
May 24 - 28 Living an Authentic Life: Walking the Labyrinth as a Spiritual Practicewith Lauren Artress

May 23 - Meeting Mary at Chartres - A Daylong experience of the Sacred Feminine with Judith Tripp

Chartres Cathedral

As the world around us becomes more chaotic we are consciously choosing spiritual practices that quiet the mind. Without a quiet mind, self-reflection and prayer become challenging, and discovering and living an authentic spiritual life becomes less of a priority.

Walking the Labyrinth is becoming an accepted spiritual practice embraced by those seeking to deepen their faith in the Divine. It is a practice that can open the portal to the mystical life. If you are stirred by restlessness and longing; if you are seeking answers that elude you, join Lauren Artress in Chartres this spring.

This program will be at a special rate of $1,199 before April 15th and $1,299 after, with lower group rate available for groups of 6 or more. Call the office at 707-283-0373 for details about the group rate.

May 23 - Meeting Mary at Chartres - A Daylong experience of the Sacred Feminine with Judith Tripp

Sunday May 23, 2010- Chartres, France

Any one who comes to Chartres whether it be to visit the Labyrinth, to explore the magnificent medieval architecture or to meditate in the glory of this always sacred site, soon realizes that this holy place is an homage to Mary. The Sacred Feminine is alive and well in Chartres and has been throughout history from the time of ancient Druid worship of the Great Goddess to the worship of Mary throughout the Christian epoch.

In this day we will create a sacred circle to, explore how Mary has been honored and worshiped in Chartres throughout history. We will meet her spirit through lecture, meditation, art, music and ritual. We will share our insights, creations and stories. Our day will include participation in the Cathedral Vespers service and an ending ritual of communion with Our Lady of Chartres.

Pilgrimage:

"The art of movement, the poetry of motion, the music of personal experience, of the sacred in those places it has been known to shine forth. If we are not astounded by these possibilities, we can never plumb the depths of our own souls or the soul of the world.

The force behind myths fairytales, parables and soulful travel stories reveals the myriad ways the sacred breaks through the resistance and shines forth into our world. Pilgrimage holds out the promise of personal contact with that sacred force.

What is sacred is what is worthy of our reverence, what evokes awe and wonder in the human heart, and what, when contemplated, transforms us utterly."

-- Phil Cousineau, The Art Of Pilgrimage: The Seeker's Guide To Making Travel Sacred
